The Biggest Loser is one of the most inspiring and heart warming shows on television. It is unfortunate that the name has to be associated with this sub par product. The Biggest Loser Total Body Bands is a pair of resistance bands to be used for workouts, however unlike traditional resistance bands, these are designed to hook one band under your foot (or other object) and grasp the other end of the band with your hand. This is completely unlike the regular bands which have handles at both ends and include ankle strap OR having handles that double as ankle straps.
As far as quality, these bands are definitely in the average range. After a few stress pulls (having two people pull the bands a bit farther than they should be) there was already some scarring. Claudia, one of our testers, refused to try a second stress pull for fear of breaking. Now we are not saying that under normal use that these bands are going to start snapping, we are just providing our experience. All resistance bands eventually begin to wear out, usually because the user is not choosing the correct tension and overextending the bands. However there are other bands on the market for the same price as these that are designed to be used more traditionally AND are better constructed.
Due to the design of these bands, the number of exercises that you can perform is a lot smaller than with traditional bands. Since these bands cannot be used with a door anchor your options become even further limited.
So we cannot recommend purchasing The Biggest Loser Total Body Bands. While they would not be a complete waste of money, there are definitely better resistance bands on the market for comparable prices. It is hard to suggest paying $12 for 2 oddly designed bands when for only $20 or so more you can get complete sets of bands that come with DVDs, booklets, door anchors, carrying cases etc. Don’t be swayed by the fact that these have The Biggest Loser named tacked onto them. While we would love to support the show by suggesting this product, in this case we just can’t.
