Three Things Every Resistance Band Set Should Have

If you are going to buy resistance bands, particularly in a set, here are three things that you should make sure they have.

1 – Comfortable handles that can be clipped to more than one band at a time. The handles are the second most important part of a resistance band, so you want to make sure you have the best available. Handles that are permanently attached to the band are generally a bad idea. Ideally you want bands that can clip onto independent handles so that you can attach more than one band at a time. By attaching multiple bands to a pair of handles, you can customize the amount of resistance you need for your workout.

2 – Sturdy door anchor. Without a door anchor for your resistance bands, you are missing out on literally dozens of additional exercises. Door anchors are a must for chest and back exercises where you are pulling or pressing. You could just wrap the resistance bands around a pole and get the same effect, but how many times do you have access to a pole compared to a door?

3 – Ankle straps. Some sets have handles that you can stick your foot it, but for a full range of leg exercises you need ankle straps to secure the bands to your legs. This allows you to do those all important exercises on your quads and glutes, giving you firmer thighs and a smaller butt.

There are many resistance bands sets that you can buy that will include the above three things, and we recommend that you make that a requirement before purchase unless the set has something extraordinary to overcome the fact that it is missing one. Many sets will try to get away without having ankle straps which is just silly considering how cheap they are to make and how much value they add.
